Thanks a lot, Richard. Though I should certainly learn about sizing thumbnails in journals - that would certainly help to improve the presentation

It would certainly not hurt. I don't even know how to get them to the size you got. People have told me a few times but I forgot or don't want to be bothered with the additional task. So I just put them up in their standard size. That seems to work OK to me. Its kinda orderly

Bottom line is always the content of the images depicted and these here are powerful enough to override any presentation issues.

Certainly. And very easy when it comes to squares (maybe one reason why they are so popular here).
The different scaling of landscape and portrait format is a bit irritating, when juxtaposed, though.
bigthumbs are VERY easy, just write bigthumbxyz67564 instead of thumbxyz67564
