I never knew the sky went on so long

I never knew the sky went on so long,
So high. I turn away before I swoon,
Then steal another look. If I am strong
Enough, I'll see the whole and map the dune,

The smoke, the sea, the swirl, the sandy clouds.
The sky, when perfect blue, reveals no depth,
The endless blue is calm because it shrouds
Immensity, no markers for its breadth.

So many people never see the sky.
They live inside a building or a car.
Preoccupied with daily life, they try
To find success but never know how far

Away they are. Look up and see the sky,
The clouds, how far away, how big, how high.

bw - das ging ja gar nicht anders. prima fussgänger- und radfahrerbrücke von kehl nach strasburg (und umgekehrt). lohnt den ausflug so wie der "park der zwei ufer"
