I'm wondering what is that "red-white thing"...... :?...
But I like it!

Now - the red and white thing certainly is Mark Twain's mark. Two fathoms of water below the keel of the boat, that was the call of the river pilots. this is where Samuel Langhorne Clemens found his pseudonym from when he was working as a pilot on the mississippi river himself ...

Japanese :-? Now this certainly comes as a surprise to me - mmmh. Maybe it is the scratching which resembles far east letters :-?

(smile) yes, Japanese... I'm still standing behind my comment :)
I guess it's something in its spirit...

(without any connection - terrible disaster there from yesterday... ) :(

Ahhw - more difficult
Mark Twain was the signal from the plumb line for the Mississippi pilots when they reached 2 fathoms of water
Samuel Langhorne Clemens got his pen name from this term.
And on this boat I also saw some depth marks. So I had this association.

It's the truth. And with me it doesn't happen only when I try to express my admiration for beautiful, special images... There are so many words and sometimes they don't seem enough. Or perhaps we are unable to use them.
(don't be modest, I'm sure you know the English language very well!:aww:)

I wish I had the insight to know just why this appeals to me on so many levels. I hate when something touches me and I can't explain it to myself. So I will just feel it. Marvelous work.

...sailin' down the wild Mississippi. The grain of the wood, when you look into it, even gives the impression of currents and eddies and ripples along the river~~~~~
