...I seem tend towards the b&w landscapes a bit--- and a lot of colour landscape on DA seem over the top with colour saturation - or just - everything but the kitchen sink in them - GRANDEUR writ large and bold - ( nothing much wrong with that ) -- but I like this everyday scene - that makes you instantly feel the sunshine on your back and smell in the air - very well composed and natural .
I can follow you exactly. But still ever so often I have to give those landscapes try. It is quite a challenge imho as for instance - unlike a painter - you cannot arrange the landscape elements the way you would like them to be. lights and shadows and such of course as well. And thanks, Douglas !
.....the pic I sent is the kind of terrain that really got me interested in photography - I initially wanted to become a 'desert' landscape photographer - but being stuck in the city most of the time I turned back to using my imagination and manipulation ---but I still have quite a love for it ! ....Great shot you sent - so verdant compared to the bare rock ! ---- these photos would look quite interesting side by side !
landscape photography taken seriously needs almost as much dedication as wildlife photography. maybe not my sort of thing. i manage to get up early ever once in a while to catch some nice light when i know where i want to go, that's it for me. i guess that you take more time in location scouting and taking weather reports than actually taking pictures in this field. and yes. they would look great side by side !
...... I tried in vain several times to move to a region with stunning landscapes ( Arizona - New Mexico ) - but the cities are not as nice as the surrounding countryside - the wages are low out there and because of the recession the unemployment is high - add in 100+F degree temps for half the year - high crime rate - allergies - drug cartels - people legally totting guns around - terrible health care system -etc etc .....and I decided it would be better to just visit . . . . . . you're a bit luckier in Europe where nice scenics are not such long distances from where you live ............ I would suppose - if I won the lottery -- I would get the Nikon 800E --- a few good lenses ---( a good travel companion - easy to find when you're rich ) and just mosey around looking for good landscapes --- print them myself with a large format printer and pay off some gallery to show my work ........ but then I never buy lottery tickets
Nice shot. It does kind of remind me of the Midwest plains. I live in them right now. I also lived in Augsburg Germany for two years some time ago. I wish I would have taken more pictures when I was there.
ha - it also reminded me from what I have seen from the midwest plains (not that I have been there, of course). it was done for a competition at the regional newspaper (the county throughout the 4 seasons) in july. they didn't select it but a photo much worse in august
