not afraid, i think - perhaps a bittersweet moment? we'll leave something behind, yet embrace new perspectives, new liberations?

frozen chains are supposed to break easily. or so we believe
Reply
:iconeintoern:
EintoeRn Featured By Owner Feb 13, 2013  Hobbyist Photographer
we do believe. but you need the deepest of frost for these. a regular frost which makes people freeze and sneeze will not work for such a huge task ...

we are far more fragile, and we break more easily. i should know that

Very strong photograph. I like what the darkened area in the top left part of the image brings to the composition :) Oh, and greetings from a warm, sunny New Zealand!

Thanks a lot, Andre. I also thought of the darker part to add a little something to this picture.
And also thanks for the greetings. My time in NZ is many years ago, but it was around Christmas time, and I cannot remember much about bad weather. [link] [link] [link]
Though with have been up to Mt. Ruapehu in the snow with a group of Tamsmanian geologiy students. Some of those Aussies had never seen snow in their lives. Quite fun it was ;-)

The NZ summers are great, the winters can be very stormy and unpleasant! I only live an hour and a half away from Mt Ruapehu so I have been there quite a few times. Did you got to the top of the mountain? The Crater Lake up there is a magical place :) I assume you shot those images on film?

Not such a bad part of the world. I was staying with friends in Rotorua at that time. And, yes, of course. Good old Kodachrome 64 still in good shape !
Crater lake in the fog, yes. Saw that, too ;-)

we live at these latitudes so our friends don't have to, at least so i have claimed to a couple of them :D

ach, there is a deer in my yard eating a shrub that they are supposed to leave alone... this time of year they will eat anything at all.

yes me too!

did i tell you that after the blizzard in Hartford last week, yesterday there was freezing rain? streets were unsafe as well as narrowed by snow - everyone who works for Aetna was told to stay home and work remotely. luckily B. had already been given a secure way to log in - she worked from her hotel room all day.
